Review: Money Jake – THROWAWAYS

February 25, 2026 - Album Review

This tape grabs you from the jump with street grit and a relentless hustle that only an Baltimore artist like Money Jake can deliver. Over 17 tracks and roughly 44 ish minutes, he slices through flex-filled bars and raw storytelling with a voice that sounds like it’s been seasoned in back-of-the-van battles and corner-store cyphers.

Production swings hard between dusty drum hits and grimy bass, giving the perfect backdrop for Jake’s blend of clever wordplay and unfiltered reality checks. He ain’t here to sugarcoat shit — this is rap that scrapes your lungs on the way up. Although there haven’t been widely published reviews yet, the vibe across the record feels lived-in and street-certified.

Catchy moments hit when he mixes grit with melodic flair — you’ll be nodding even when you’re trying not to: lines like “I’m on my grind / It’s my time to shine / No time to whine…” (echoing the eternal hustle attitude from similar themes in track “throwaways“) stick in your head long after the hook fades.

Overall, THROWAWAYS feels like a salute to the come-up — a rally cry for anyone grinding through bullshit, staying vocal about it, and turning the pain into bar after bar. Not woozy luxury rap, this is gritty, unapologetic rap from the trenches.
